The Notre Dame Eco and Space Club is set to host the highly anticipated 8th National Earth and Space Summit starting from February 20-22 . This festival, aimed at igniting young minds in astronomy and ecology, promises to provide a platform for passionate pupils from across the country. Speaking about the event, Moderator of the Notre Dame Eco and Space Club, Md Nazmul Hassan, shares his enthusiasm, “We’re thrilled to bring together students from across the country to delve into the wonders of astronomy and ecology. This summit is a testament to our commitment to fostering curiosity and exploration.” With over 100 institutes confirming their participation, the event is gearing up to be a vibrant convergence of students interested in astronomy and earth science. The summit will feature a plethora of engaging events focusing on ecology, earth science, and astronomy, spanning both online and offline platforms. What sets this year’s summit apart are several distinctive events designed to make the experience even more immersive. One such highlight is the Astral Hunt, a refined version of a traditional treasure hunt with astronomical clues scattered across the sprawling five-acre campus of Notre Dame College.
Designed exclusively for students from other institutions, this challenge will push participants to apply their knowledge of astronomy in an exciting and competitive setting. In addition, attendees will have the rare opportunity to observe the Sun through a specialized solar telescope, made possible by the summit’s telescope partner, MICB. Adding to the excitement, renowned astrophotographer Zubuyer Kaolin will be attending as a guest speaker for the Astro Talk session, where he will share insights into the art and science of astrophotography. His stunning celestial images will also be displayed in the Photosphere Exhibition, offering attendees a glimpse into the breathtaking beauty of the cosmos through his lens. Reflecting on the importance of looking beyond our world, he shares, “It’s refreshing to see so much interest in space lately through events like this. The more we explore the universe, the broader our horizons become. We must reconnect with the sky, protect it from pollution, and preserve its wonders for future generations. Dr. Fr. Hemanto Pius Rozario, Principal of Notre Dame College, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting such a significant event on campus. As the 8th National Earth and Space Summit draws near, anticipation continues to grow among students and enthusiasts alike. With the support of current and former students, experts, and distinguished guests, the summit is poised to inspire and educate the next generation of astronomy and ecology enthusiasts. The vibrant Notre Dame College campus eagerly awaits participants from diverse backgrounds, promising three days of exploration, discovery, and shared experiences.
